Dannii Minogue on Simon Cowell's vanity, how Sharon reduced her to tears, and her rivalry with Cheryl Cole

Dannii Minogue is waving her fork around during lunch in a west London gastropub as she lays into Simon Cowell. Simon, you see, has let slip that 'pretty much everyone' he knows uses Botox. Pretty much everyone, that is, except the newest, youngest, shiniest addition to The X Factor judging panel, Girls Aloud's Cheryl Cole.
Now, Cheryl and Dannii have... well, let's call it 'history'. Dannii, 37, dismissed Girls Aloud as 'chavs'; Cheryl, 25, mocked Dannii's cosmetic surgery. Dannii is now indignant that Simon seems to have sided with the new girl.
'He's got more Botox in his body than anyone on TV ever. The fact that he should comment about that...' Dannii fumes, stabbing a piece of cod. Besides, she points out, she doesn't do Botox anymore. She pushes up her fringe, shows me her forehead and frowns.
'It changes your face - you can see that with Simon. Did you see the TV awards? [Cowell recently won the Special Recognition Award at the National Television Awards.]
In the footage they went back to his Pop Idol days, and I think it's hilarious the amount he's changed over the years. But he seems to be pretty open about it. I liked his answer when he was asked what he would take to a desert island if he could only have one thing. He said, "A mirror, otherwise I'd miss myself". He means it. He's that vain. He loves himself - he really does. And he's very honest about it. He says, "If I'm not going to say I'm great, who else is?" You can only admire that, and that's why people love him.'

His girlfriends? Dannii laughs so much she almost chokes on her fish. These days, she's a dab hand at the Punch and Judy slapstick that has made The X Factor such a must-watch.

DANNII Minogue is stepping things up on the mentor stakes – by taking her X Factor act Ruth Lorenzo clothes shopping.

The pair seemed to be getting on a like a house on fire as they browsed the rails at a Miss Sixty store in London – with Ruth leaving with a bag full of trendy clobber.

Laughing and joking, the Aussie judge and Ruth – who was in the bottom two with evicted Laura White last Saturday – didn’t appear to be too bothered by the anger at Laura’s exit from the reality show.

X Factor judge Dannii Minogue attracted the crowds at this year's World Travel Market when she helped Etihad Airways launch its new route to her home town of Melbourne.

The Formula 1 enthusiast signed autographs and posed for pictures on the airline's stand alongside a Ferrari F1 car. Etihad is a main sponsor of the F1 racing team.

Clive Wratten, Etihad Airways UK Country Manager, said: "Melbourne is Dannii's home town and we'll be delighted to fly her home on our daily flights. The forthcoming launch of the route to the Australian city is really important to us and Dannii helped us to celebrate with style."

Etihad will operate daily services to Melbourne from March 2009 from London Heathrow and Manchester airports, with connections through Abu Dhabi.

Dannii's appearance as a guest judge on new American tv show "Blush" will air tomorrow on Lifetime at 10pm ET.

The contestants get to know each other when they move in to their Hollywood home. For their first Max Challenge, the contestants must make-over their models using only food as make-up. During the elimination challenge the contestants are asked to create a look for a music video for guest judge, Australian singing sensation, Dannii Minogue.

Don't write me off - I'll be back says Dannii!
Dannii Minogue has vowed she will be back on The X-Factor next year saying Simon Cowell has already given her the green light.

The under-fire Australian also said this year's criticism and torrid headlines was nothing in comparison to the hell Sharon Osbourne put her through last year.

Defiant Dannii was standing up for herself amid claims she is fighting with Cheryl Cole, Simon Cowell and even reports she'd been dumped by her own protégé Rachel Hylton.

'I don't pay attention to what everyone says. I am oblivious to the taunts. I just go to work and do my job and that's all I'm focused on', she told me at the Cosmopolitan Women of the Year Awards.

'I want to do it next year and I will be. As far as everyone involved is, that is the plan and Simon has said so.'

But she says this year is a breeze after warring with stormy judge Sharon Osbourne last year.

'This year is not as bad as last year because at least life on set is fun and everyone gets on. Last year was awful.'

She also spoke about the storm that has engulfed her relationship with protégé Rachel Hylton, 26, saying: 'Rachel's come a long way and she does have a say in her songs. She has a personality that need to be guided a little for the competition.

'When people say this stuff about us, it hurts me not for myself but is affecting her chances on the show because it's distracting. I don't know where all these stories come from. It's all bulls***'.

OFFICIAL STATMENT FROM DANNII AND RACHEL

Despite rumours in today's press we can confirm that Rachel has not "dumped" her mentor Dannii Minogue, in fact the two have been working closely together all week. Being in the bottom two last week knocked Rachel's confidence and the pair have agreed that Rachel will have more ownership over her song choice and styling of the performance this weekend but she is still very much part of Team Minogue.

Rachel Hylton said today, "Dannii and I talked yesterday and I don't have anything against Dannii at all and she is still very much my mentor and I respect her opinions, all I want is a little more control over my performance and styling, which she is allowing me to have. But I am a fully fledged member of Team Minogue."

Dannii Minogue said today: “Rachel and I have not fallen out and there have never been any discussions that she wishes to leave Team Minogue. I have, as always, spent lots of one on one time with Rachel this week and have even organised a personal shopping trip so she feels more confident about her look. Rachel is a raw talent. She may be the Robbie Williams of The X Factor, but I back her 100% and want her to be happy. As with all three of my amazing contestants, they are my main priority.”

This version of Jump To The Beat has never been released - and is much better than the album or single version.
I Don't Wanna Take This Pain 7" has never been released on an album.
Love's On Every Corner is an unreleased alternative edit.
Be Careful is an unreleased edit.
Lucky Tonight is the original version with extra lyrics before it was remixed.
This Is The Way is an early remix by Phil Kelsey with more of a guitar feel / guitar solo.
Kiss And Make Up is the original mix with a harder beat and stronger vocal - before it was remixed.
I Wish You'd Stop Wishing is the original version with a stronger and different vocal.
Baby Love (E-Smoove 7") was only released on vinyl.
Success (E-Smoove 7") was only released in the US.
This Is It (Murk 7") was only released in France.

Again - this release is purely to have this material available for people to buy in the UK, no other reason. That is why it's not being released on CD. I have tried to put some rare stuff on there for you, but I'm not expecting any of you to buy it.
Once you see the other two projects that myself and Kurt Pagan-Davis are working on, you'll understand this release more.
The tracks have only just been cleared, so we are looking at a Dec 1st release date now.

The new Westfield shopping centre opened in London today so Dannii was on hand along with Model Paul Sculfor to open the Next store.
Dannii looked amazing as she sported a rock chick casual look in a retro t-shirt, black skinny jeans and high heeled boots. And despite a late night at the National Television Awards Dannii looked bright eyed and glowing.

CARING Dannii Minogue urged Brits to make Sun-backed charity single Hero number one this weekend.
The gorgeous Aussie, who celebrated her 37th birthday last week, told TV Biz that Hero - the song which all 12 X Factor finalists have recorded - should go to the top spot as it would do a lot of good for our wounded troops.

Hero is part of The Sun's Help For Heroes campaign and is currently riding high in the mid-week chart.
Dannii told TV Biz: "Everyone should buy Hero because it’s for a good cause.
"It’s to help people who protect and keep us safe."

"I love a good pair of heels! At five foot two, I’m not so confident in flat shoes. Fashion faux pas? Trying to wear something trendy and not dressing for my shape is where it can go wrong these days, but the 80s really was pretty unkind — just remember, fluoro bobby socks do not go with anything, ever! The amazing Gok Wan has made me realise that if you keep hold of anything long enough, it always seems to come back into fashion! My style icons are the young Elizabeth Taylor and Sophia Loren. They were women who knew how to be feminine and rock a womanly curve. I’m also a little besotted with Wonder Woman!”
On her career
“There have been so many highlights. Ones that always spring to mind are performing in front of 100,000 people in Hyde Park, being the first artist allowed to bootleg and release a Madonna track, performing Lady Maceth at the Edinburgh Festival and now being a judge and mentor on my favourite TV show, The X Factor.”
On film
“The Wizard of Oz is my favourite film. I’m also obsessed with the stage show Wicked — I have seen it three times and am planning a fourth visit! I also love the film Enchanted. When I was little, I saw Olivia Newton-John in the film Grease and from that day I decided I wanted to perform.”
On night life
“I cook a lovely little risotto for my mates, so in London, I would say a night in is best. I’m heading off to Ibiza for my annual holiday, and there I love cocktails while Roger Sanchez plays a sundown set at Mambo Bar overlooking the beach.”
On eating out
“For brunch, I love Daylesford Organic, and for dinner it’s Japanese food at Nobu, but if you’re in a rush and still want to be healthy, Ping Pong always does the trick.”
On shopping
“St Tropez has gorgeous girly fashion and a huge market to stroll through. It’s great for big hats and sparkly jewellery. My most expensive purchase? I bought a vintage gold ring with diamonds and rubies. I call it my ‘investment piece’.”
On Melbourne vs. London
“I’m working between London and Melbourne at the moment, so I have the best of both worlds! Back home in Melbourne I love the wide open spaces, having lunch on the beach and the friendly people. The town comes alive when the F1 racing teams hit town. In London you can’t beat the music, fashion and great tunes on the radio.”
And finally, Dannii loves
“Feminine dresses, a trip to the hair salon and always having my fingernails and toenails painted. I also love yoga and I have recently become mad for the Power Plate. What really brightens my day is a morning coffee, driving with the top down and John Mayer blasting from my stereo.”

The cover of Abba's worldwide hit "The Winner Takes It All" has appeared on Heatworld's website.
The clip only contains Kylie's verse of the song so to hear Dannii's vocals make sure you watch "Beautiful People" on 23rd October on BBC2 at 9:30pm.
The soundtrack which will also contain the duet will be available to buy from 20th October.

THE glam X-Factor girls are looking picture perfect yet again - only this time on toast!
No jam is needed to sweeten these slices as Cheryl Cole and Dannii Minogue are tasty enough.
Along with fellow judges Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh they complete artist's Lennie Payne's latest creation for Warbutons new advertising campaign.
Payne has also toasted impressions of legends such as Elvis Presley and Benny Hill.
He first got the idea when making shapes out of bread for his young daughter, and has now made a living out of it.
Lennie said: "You've got to earn your bread and butter somehow."
Let's hope these are some carbs that Dannii and Cheryl might actually enjoy!

Terry Ronald has given us an update on Kylie and Dannii's duet of "The Winner Takes It All" for the tv show "Beautiful People" which you will get to hear in the 4th episode and not the 1st show as first thought.
This is what he had to say....

It is a really fun show, with lots of great music.. "the duet"- produced by Steve Anderson , Ian Masterson and myself is episode 4 i think, I don't think you'll be disappointed- you haven't heard Kylie belt like this for a long time on record, and I seriously believe that this is the best vocal Dannii has ever done!

The Daily Mirror recently published an article saying Dannii has threatened to quit The X Factor over jealousy towards Cheryl for receiving more air time on tv.
With the media trying to spark up a fued between the two girls Dannii has decided to release a statement to finally put to rest the rumors.

"I'm not jealous. I'm not furious. There are no pre-live show crisis talks and there are no ultimatums. I love being a part of The X Factor and we (the judges) are all having so much fun this year. Just by watching all the backstage and behind-the-scenes footage on The Xtra Factor you can see we are all one big happy family. I missed two audition days in Birmingham as I was filming the Grand Final of 'Australia's Got Talent' on the other side of the world, so for this reason, it may appear to some, that I'm missing from the show - this is for the simple reason that I wasn't there! I'm so thrilled with my final 3 and 'Team Minogue' are ready for battle."

DANNII Minogue has vowed never to follow in the steps of Sharon Osbourne or Louis Walsh and write an autobiography – because she’s scared of not having secrets.
The 36-year-old X Factor judge, singer and sister of Kylie, has on many occasions been offered a deal to publish a tell-all tome but admits she finds the whole thing “bizarre”.
“I can’t imagine ever wanting to,” she tells us. “I mean, to what end? So people can know every detail of my life? No thanks. I come from a very private family and I can’t imagine it going down too well.”
Meanwhile, Dannii is pursuing her dream of conquering the American audience. “I’ve been jetting to and from Los Angeles, going to meetings about TV shows and so on.
"I’m guest judging on a show called Blush – and from there who knows?” Obviously not a book.

Lifetime is introducing their latest - “Blush: The Search for America’s Greatest Makeup Artist” - to accompany their newly acquired Project Runway.
“Blush: The Search for America’s Greatest Makeup Artist” will debut in November - with eight beauticians competing for a one-year contract with Max Factor, $100,000 and a job with a major magazine cover shoot.

The X Factor judge let her hair down at the launch of pal Kathy Lette’s new book - To Love, Honour and Betray - and jiggled around on a sofa with two blonde drag queens.
36-year-old Dannii, who is dating hot rugby star Kris Smith, even caught up with big sis Kylie's old flame Jason Donovan for a chat.
As the night progressed, pretty Dannii and author Kathy took to the floor for a boogie.
